Have you ever wondered how important for our well-being is the light surrounding us?
It has extraordinary power and the ability to give one interior many dimensions and faces. It can also give us an energy and encourage us to act, as well as calm us down, relax us and prepare us for a night rest.
During the day, our home is full of natural light, which constantly plays with the elements encountered on its way. It extracts every invoice, looks into different places and displays everything that its rays touch. The very morning is a small announcement of the fun that the sun begins in our home. It is much nicer, when instead of an alarm clock, we are encouraged to start the day with gentle rays of sunshine on the cheeks.
However, in the winter time, when we get up much before dawn, and in the afternoon when darkness comes to our home far too quickly, our interiors acquire shape and character thanks to the lighting we previously selected. Now we participate in the game where we build strategies and create opportunities. So let's first learn a few rules that will make this game much easier for us.
Designing lights in our home - what should we remember about?
First of all it's good to plan the light sources.
Let's take a moment and think what activities we perform in each room. There are several places in our house that require special attention. Fox example I am thinking about the kitchen and the counter tops lights in it. Spotlights under the cabinets or LED strips, recently so popular will make preparing meals much more pleasant and our fingers much safer.
Another place that requires our attention is the lighting above our table. It is more pleasant to eat a meal when we can "see" what we have on the plate.
Also important place to remember will be a kids room. You should think about the lighting necessary for learning, playing and reading books, which usually take place just before bedtime, so you need a proper lamp around the bed.
Each of the places in our house usually has several functions, so if we leave in each interior only ceiling light, we often regret it in the future.
In any interior, regardless of purpose, it is always better to use more than one light source. Our living room is a good example. Right next to the kitchen, it is the main place to spend time together, and the variety of activities and situations often require extremely different lighting. We expect a different mood when meeting friends, another when when we are watching movies in the evening, when we only want soft light falling on e.g. one of the walls, and another kind if we want to indulge in an evening reading. An interesting solution is also using dimmers, which helps us create a completely different atmosphere using the same light source.
In addition to the practical part, it is also worth paying attention to the aesthetic part.
If we have a wall with a beautiful texture, a properly directed light will only emphasize it and bring out the previously invisible beauty and character.
Walls made of concrete or wood looks very interesting especially in three-dimensional form.
Similarly, in the case of photographs and images hung on the wall. It is worth to mark their presence with an additional light source, especially if we want to emphasize their emotional value.
This rule applies to every thing that we want to highlight. It can be a beautiful flower pot with your favorite plant or a figurine of salt dough made by our children. Remember that we create the rules of the game here and everything is possible.
It is also worth paying attention to the lamps themselves. Their design can often significantly change the nature of the interior.
Another element that is worth paying attention to is the color of the light.
The color of the light is measured in Kelvin (K). The lower the color temperature, the warmer the light.
We usually use warm light in the bedroom and living room, i.e. in rooms where we want to relax, its color does not strain the eyes and builds a cozy mood.
Neutral light color is found in both private and public areas, very often with kitchen and bathroom ceiling lighting.
The cold light is most often used in such places as gym or office rooms. It favors physical and mental activity.
If we take a moment and think over the issue of lighting, it will allow us adapt the interior to our own needs.
